Misuzu: —It's an osprey!

Kei: —Huh?

—That bird is an osprey, Master!

—So that's what you call an osprey.

—Yes.

—So it isn't a kite after all.

—When a kite spreads its wings, they form a trapezoid shape. But an osprey seems to spread its wings like a beautiful fan.
—From a distance it looked black, but it has a contrast of brown and white, and there is a crest on the back of its head.

—A crest... that's the long, extended feathers, right?

Misuzu: —That's right. A feather hair ornament! A crown made of feathers!

Kei: —A feather ornament, huh... That's panache.

—Panache?

—Yeah. That's what you call a feather ornament.

—What does that mean?

Mon panache!

—Mon... panache?

—Yeah. That's what you call a feather ornament.

—Is that so?

—Yeah.

I'd forgotten almost everything, yet those words alone remained with me. They were the protagonist's final cry in a certain play:

—That's right—you would take everything from me. Go on, then. Take it all!

—But no matter how much you rage, there is one thing I will carry with me into the next world.

That one thing was panache (one's irreducible dignity and spirit).

Sakura no Toki, Chapter IV — Mon Panache!

Welcome to my blog / archive, I mainly just write whatever comes to mind in regards to, well, whatever I feel like writing about. I will be gradually including previous things I had written, which is why there are dates of articles posted before this first blog.
